Why the price moves
The coating itself is the cheap part. What you're really paying for is everything that happens before it goes on. A ceramic coating is semi-permanent: whatever your paint looks like the moment it's applied is what gets locked in. If there are swirl marks and haze under there, a coating seals them in and makes them shinier.
That's why we polish first and coat second. The polishing stage is where the hours go — and it's why a coupe costs less than a crew-cab truck. More panel, more time.
What a cheap coating skips
When you see a ceramic coating advertised at a price that seems too good, the prep is almost always what got cut. A quick wash, a wipe-down, coating on top of uncorrected paint. It'll bead water for a while, but you've paid to preserve your swirl marks.

Is it worth it over wax?
Wax is the entry point — looks great, lasts weeks. Sealants last longer. A ceramic coating is a different category: it chemically bonds to the clearcoat, locks in the shine, and makes every wash afterward easier because dirt and road film have a harder time sticking. For Saskatchewan specifically — gravel dust, bugs, long UV summers, salt-heavy winters — that low-maintenance protection is the main reason people book it.
